The first Koala Friday set of the year will be held at the latest music bar this Wednesday (24th Feb 2010) at 7pm. Be sure to book as this event is likely to be very popular with acts such as ‘Thank you anyway’, the sexy-head-twisting ‘Eddie’ and fellow KF friends from afar ‘Studio arcade’ on the evenings roster also.
This will also be the first opportunity to listen to not 1, but 2 brand spanking new Koala Friday songs which are part of the bands new regeneration project (writing life changing songs). Also rumored is the possibility of a new cover song to kick start the year. Tickets are £3 in advance or £4 on the door, available via phone from 01273 687171.
Hello people,
We hope you are all well and enjoying the festive season. We know we certainly are (Otto has purchased some lovely christmas jumpers).
So as you are probably aware we have been a little quiet recently. We thought we would chill down towards the end of the year for a well deserved break. We have done over 50 gigs this year and 3 e.ps and its been fantastic. There is no way we could ever of done without each and everyone of your help and support so from the bottom of our hearts we thank you very much.
We are having our final rehearsal tomorrow night followed by 4 large snow balls in the local. From there we will make some new and really exciting plans for next year. We know so far that we are taking off January to write for the album.
Expect more and please stick with us
We hope santa brings you everything you desire and make sure you eat lots and get drunk (as responsibly as possible!!!)
Koala love
Ross,
Si,
Mike,
Otto
‘Koala Friday Presents…’ has been a very special project for us this year. One which has brought together musicians and fans a like from across the UK and beyond!! In the past 6 months, we’ve opened our doors to the likes of Ruse, Rubylux, Kiina, Stars Down to Earth and many others. From sell out crowds to looking at our mums and girlfriends in the audience, it’s been a bumpy ride! Tonight, we open the Hanbury doors for probably the last time for us, and welcome our good friends; Jon Paul Palombo, the marvellous Eddie and the songwriter sensation Rich Somers.
Let’s all meet and have a pint of over priced beer one last time at this truly remarkable venue in Brighton. Tonight, Thursday the 3rd of December, 8pm, for just a token £3.
We’d really appreciate your company…
Cheers,
Simon and Koala Friday. X
The awakening
05.31 AM, the alarm awakens the first marsupial. The milk is poured over the cornflakes and another sunny day on the sunshine coast of Brighton begins. Four hours later, the other cretins awaken. By the time they had dunked their croissant in to their coffee, the first of a two strong car convoy had already left.
The reconnaissance point was agreed to be Esso petrol station. After the first car pulled up, the second car arrived ten minutes late carrying the shaven headed, British lout (Ross) and the extreme coffee drinking Greek (aka Otto).
The journey
Before Mike took his last gulp on his fourth Yazoo milkshake of the day, the convoy left- target N.Wales (LL30). Talk of healthy eating was the hot topic of the Koala Friday transport unit. As urine filled the bladders of the four strapping young lads, we made the first stop at Welcome Break (Oxford). [image] Second stop: Burger Kind (Double Back (minus mayo (plus diet coke))).
Several pit stops later Koala Friday arrive at the accommodation, being greeted by a lovely lady called Barbara, who gave the band an insight in to the many happenings of Llandudno, namely, B&B and hotel spotting. It seems this charming, picturesque town located only 10 miles from where the band will be recording their third EP has enough inns and stop overs to cater for the combined population of Russia and China.
The big night out
It was only a matter of time before these predators of the night set upon the unsuspecting town.
First stop: Homemade authentic Greek Salad (a la Otto) plus beers at the accommodation.
Beer tally: 1 each
Combined: 4
Second stop: Club147, which compared to granny grimbles after noon tea and dominos tournament, without the warm hospitality. The barman obviously recognized our tourist naivety and kindly pointed us in the wrong direction up a 400 metre mountain in search of a more lively establishment (aka Wetherspoons).
Beer tally: 0
Total combined: 4
Third stop: Wetherspoons, arrived 6 hours later, thanks to the barman. The highlight of this sick smelling, piss ridden pub was Aunt Bessie’s £2 fruit machine and the £1 chasers delivered by the spotty adolescent mutants who worked there.
Beer tally: 0.5
Tea and soft drinks tally: 1
Total combined: 5 (1 knocked off for tea)
Fourth stop: After wondering the streets of this ghost town for two hours in search of the only advertised night club, the boys decided the company of the now drunk bald headed scouser in the Club147 was becoming more appealing.
Beer tally: 0
Tea and soft drinks tally: 5
Total combined: 0 (5 knocked off for tea)
As the boys set their alarm for 08:26AM, we all await and anticipate the beginning of the recording session tomorrow where the boys aim to record several brand new songs, one of which the lyrics aren’t even written yet.
Stay tuned folks.
Major city music tour
Ladies, gents and fellow hermaphrodites, we would like to inform you that we are planning a UK national tour. So far the towns and cities we have scheduled to play are as follows:
London, Reading, Bristol, Essex, Brighton.
Aside from the tour, we’re also currently booking up shows faster than Usain Bolt can run the 100 meters!
New material (silk off cuts)
The tour will also be an opportunity to air the new Koala Friday material such as ‘Dry tears’ and ‘We are Roman’. Don’t forget that the brand new EP “Choose your colour” will also be available from mid September exclusively at Koala Friday gigs.
We hope to see everyone at a gig soon, for now check out the official live dates, and we’ve popped some new photos of a recent writing session below…
Lucious Luminaire Lemons!
Well the first night of our micro tour with Two Spot couldn’t have been a bigger hit. We unveiled a whole new look for Koala Friday with some stunning outfits designed by ROXY GOLDSTEIN FASHION. The new set consisting of four brand new songs seemed to go down rather well and I can’t wait for the big gig tonight in Brighton at the Komedia! Got to run, soundcheck is on…

Bleeding toe nails
Due to the whole concept of not being able to see in to the future, I am writing these blog posts with the benefit of hindsight. With hindsight comes experience and from experience we can hopefully learn. It turns out we didn’t learn a darn thing from Monday’s shenanigans. We had a another mammoth rehearsal last night until the wee small hours in preparation for tonight’s gig in London at the prestigious Luminaire. I think the Koala guys will all agree with me in saying that we rocked so hard in rehearsal that we will be bleeding through our toe nails for the next few weeks.
Footage frenzy and tonight’s gig!
I also took a whole bunch of video footage from the rehearsal, so I’ll try and string something together over the next few days and pop it on this blog for you lovely people to take a look at.
Tonight’s gig with Two Spot Gobi will be wicked, not sure if they’re any tickets left but feel free to check by visiting the Luminaire website and I’ll look forward to seeing everyone who can make it!
Until tomorrow then!
